“Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6 AMPC
LEAN on, TRUST in, and be CONFIDENT in the Lord…
As I reflected on this scripture, the Holy Spirit kept bringing “lean on, trust in and be confident in the Lord”, to the forefront of my mind. As it kept replaying, I seen an image of a hard, sturdy rock. After a few moments of pondering on those words, I began to think of why we even lean on something in the first place. Then a revelation came over me.
Normally we lean on something, or someone when we feel unbalanced, unstable, or in need of support. For example, when you’re standing up and putting on a shoe and you lean over and put your hands on one’s shoulder. Or when you feel like you might fall, tip over and don’t trust in your capability to stand up right, you lean on someone or something.
You depend on them. You place your trust in what you are leaning on. You trust that it has the strength and capability to uphold you while you are unsteady. You place your confidence in that thing or someone that they won’t let you fall.
And what the Lord began to reveal was – lean on God when you feel shaky, unsure and unstable. When you feel like you can’t go on, when your strength is about to fail, or when you start to feel faint – LEAN ON GOD!
Place your trust in knowing that He has the strength to withstand any amount of pressure or burden that is placed upon Him when you lean in. Trust that He won’t let you fall, break or stumble. He is your support system. He is your rock and your firm foundation that you can rest on.
Place your confidence in the Lord, that you know- that you know- that you know- that He is Good! He won’t lead you astray or watch you be shamed. Be confident that Abba, our Father, has infinite wisdom and His ways are higher than man’s. Be confident that the Lord ONLY does what is good for you!
And if we continue reading, the verse goes to say “…and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.”
There are going to be moments in your life when you just don’t know what’s the next best choice or the right decision to make. There’s going to be times when you are at a crossroad and don’t know which path to take. You will feel unbalanced in your decision making, you might even be pressured to think or act fast. But daughter, in those moments do not lean on yourself, your insight, or on people who do not have the strength or capacity to uphold you.
Seek the Lord, lean on Him, trust Him and be confident in the Lord with all of your heart. When we are unbalanced, unstable, or weak, even our own insight and strength will fail us. We are not thinking and processing things correctly when we are unstable. But know that we can run to God and put the full weight of what we are carrying upon the Lord, and
He WON’T FAIL US. He can take it. He can withstand. He can think clearly for us and smooth out the path that’s confusing before us. He can lead us into the way we should go. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
In conclusion, no matter what challenges you are facing, no matter what situation arose that may have tried to knock you off course, off your feet, kept you feeling unsteady – bring it to God. Recognize God in those moments.
Remember that you KNOW God, you seen Him move before, acknowledge Him. Have full confidence knowing that He will make your path straight, as He holds you up with His own strength. There will be no confusion. In Jesus name!
